AVEOAUSTRALIA & AVEOASIA AT COWRA SHOW:

Friday 18th September dawned bright and clear for the first day of the SAAA annual Fly- in at Cowra NSW. The AVEOASIA was there in support of AVEOAUSTRALIA who had their stand set up early and we were all very excited to be “back on “the events circuit for a new season of aviation activities.

It’s always a nervous time the first few hours of any event but the aircraft started coming in good numbers, despite some bad weather in the surrounding regions, and the pilots, aircraft builders and event visitors quickly started visiting the AVEOAUSTRALIA stand and taking great interest in our current range of products and indeed some of the new items just released.

From an AVEO point of view, we had a good cross section of aircraft owners, operators and builders, buying products, making orders and promising future business. As always the aircraft lights initiated the interest with the posistobes in their various guises being very popular along with the AVEOFLASH LP E-series wing lights always finding favor with most customers, and to all those would be customers who “already had lights fitted” don’t forget us when your bulbs fail – we can do you a good deal on any of our lights WITH FULL LIFETIME WARRANTEE. And a special thank you to the one customer who upon seeing the AVEO product range promptly purchased a full set for his aircraft with the promise he was going to remove the “new” “old stuff”, apparently just fitted, and fit AVEO lights immediately and in doing so loose several KG of dead weight and gain significant piece of mind in terms of reliability!

Both Friday and Saturday proved to be busy days with little "time off" to check out the aircraft and show generally but as a result we have an increasing numbers of customers and their aircraft being fitted, or awaiting fitment, of AVEO equipment and the basic message from AVEO is, no matter what you fly we are confident that our products will be of great value to you not only in terms of reliability, function and sheer beautiful design but also in terms of greater economy and safety.

Many thanks to the SAAA for allowing us to be part of their great event and all we have to say now is "see you next year".

WORKING WITH BRUMBY:

One of the real pleasures we have now being based Tumut, Nsw Australia and in working with AVEO, is in particular, working closely with our partners in AVEOAUSTRALIA developing the local markets for AVEO products and meeting our customers or potential customers.

As you will see from the factory news brief (http://www.aveoengineering.com/press_release_brumby.pdf) Brumby aircraft based in Cowra NSW is one of the first Australian OEM’s to become an AVEO partner and utilize our range of products including the new AVEODataHud and FliteControl. AVEOASIA was fortunate enough to be able to visit Brumby and be part of this hopefully, long term relationship, and be given a “tour’ of their facilities and most importantly the aircraft they produce the “Brumby”.

With new aviation products it is always "interesting" talking to potential customers with regards to them using your new equipment, with Brumby the engineering staff were most positive and excited to be one of the first OEM’s to utilize our lights, DataHud and Flitecontrol in their aircraft, and for AVEO it is excellent news for us to have such a professional and knowlwdgeable group of engineers to be so supportive, so watch this space for future reports on how the AVEO products fair once Brumby install and test in their aircraft – many thanks to one and all at Brumby for your support.

DEVELOPMENTS IN TUMUT:

As all of you are probably aware that the AVEOASIA team re-located to Australia earlier this year and “joined forces” with AVEOAUSTRALIA with a view to planning and setting up AVEO AIRCRAFT INTERNATIONAL – the AVEO SMARTPLANETM assembly Company and facility. Yes, we have now confirmed that TUMUT in NSW will be our chosen centre of operation and we are now in the final stages of planning for the future arrival of the test aircraft – (no, we did not manage to finish the test aircraft assembly while we were in Slovakia – we thought we better leave the Gelnica factory team to complete the aircraft without us in their way!)

We have agreements in place now with the Tumut Shire Council for our piece of land at Tumut Airfield and how grateful we are for their continued full support and encouragement. We will be taking up residence at the airfield as soon as we have a confirmed date for aircraft shipping from the factory team in Slovakia and in the short term we have been offered, by the Tumut Flying Club, an existing hangar for our aircraft and test flying activities while we have our own facilities planned for and then built – very exciting times for all of us and many thanks to the Tumut Flying Club for their support as well.

Finally, to answer the question I know all are asking – when is the confirmed date? Sorry we are not telling, and no one else in AVEO is either! The aircraft is in our opinion a beautiful, elegant, technically innovative piece of engineering and we are going to get it 100% right before we bring it to the public – so for everyone out there, who, like us, are waiting with great anticipation for this one piece of news all we will say is be patient – it’s worth waiting for.

FACTORY VISIT IN SLOVAKIA:

As usual we are overdue with our AVEOASIA News update but we can definitely claim this is due to how busy everyone in AVEO is at the moment and has been throughout this year. First of all we are very excited to report that a combined team from AVEOASIA and our representatives AVEOAUSTRALIA spent the month of May in Slovakia at the AVEO Engineering facility, in the town of Gelnica, assisting in the assembly of TWO test aircraft!

For us it was a wonderful experience and our first chance to get “hands on” with the aircraft and receive a full insight into the design, technology and manufacturing methods being used to produce the AVEO SMARTPLANETM aircraft. We have to extend our deep gratitude to all the staff in Gelnica, and in Strojkov Engineering in Kosice, for making us feel so welcome and allowing us to be part of the first aircraft assembly – we learn so much under their guidance and we came away even more convinced of how very special the first AVEO SMARTPLANETM,, the “PHANTOMTM”, is going to be.

We have included some pictures of our time in Slovakia just to give all our web site visitors a taste of what is to come and as a belated big thank you to the aircraft build team who we had the privilege to work with.

I myself, had the additional privilege of working closely with Mr. Christian Nielsen and his Design team over the period of the visit on the finalizing of various design aspects of the AVEOPHANTOMTM and to say the least I am totally convinced that they are one of the most innovative design facilities on the planet!! Thank you to all in Strojkov Engineering – Kosice.

AVEOASIA TRAVELS TO AUSTRALIA

In late March AVEOASIA re-located its management team into Cooma NSW Australia to combine resources and efforts with our AVEOAUSTRALIA partners to initiate the development of AVEO Aircraft International, a Joint Venture to set up as new AVEO entity to assemble & deliver the AVEOSmartPlanes, under development and first build in the AVEO Engineering factory in Slovakia.

A major undertaking, and very exciting one for all involved, but a development that will reap benefits for all of the AVEO organisation and bring the prospect of new aviation industry jobs and economic benefits into NSW Australia. The choice of location was assessed carefully over the next month or so with the town of Cooma and AVEO Australia's home base Polo Flat airfield being favoured for the new factory.

'Moving AVEOASIA” into the town of Cooma from its base in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia proved to be quite straight forward as our operation from the beginning has been generally web based and apart from a few day incommunicado we quickly established operations from our new office in Cooma.

A second goal of our efforts is to prepare for the flight testing of the new Phantom aircraft again destined to take place in Australia in the near future under the joint direction and support of AVEOASIA and AVEOAUSTRALIA personnel. We therefore had the basic profile for the location we needed, preferably an airfield in easy reach of a supportive and enthusiastic town, good access to transport links for import and export of components and aircraft, a reasonable size potential labour force and if possible local industries and suppliers to provide support services.

Possibly considered a difficult combination to achieve but in the wonderful state of NSW where beautiful small towns and small airfield seen to be plentiful the choice of about four good locations emerged including AVEO AUSTRALIA's home base. After several weeks of investigations, conversations and deliberations the Town of TUMUT and its beautiful airfield moved in to the top of our list. The local town council were totally supportive and enthusiastic to get us to move into their town and the open offer to utilise land at the local airfield totally suited our requirements for the AVEO AIRCRAFT INTERNATIONAL facility and towards the end of April the decision was made, by the three AVEO partners, to move forward with the town of TUMUT and establish an AVEO aircraft assembly plant.

At this point AVEOASIA management have to take a moment to thank the town of Cooma and all the residents, town officials and our new found Australian friend for all their support and if it may be of any consolation AVEOASIA will most likely continue to operate from the town until the end of 2009. As business organisations the three AVEO partners have to make decisions based on good economic, technical and commercial logic and at the end of the day several negative factors in Cooma and particularly Polo Flat airfield went against the AVEO project being based there.

At the end of April AVEOASIA personnel returned to Kuala Lumpur for a short time to prepare for the next stage of the Aircraft Assembly Project in Tumut and of course prepare for the our visit to Slovakia and the AVEOENGINEERING Factory in Gelnica to assist in the building of test aircraft …... but that’s another story!!

AVEOASIA’s Visit to Slovakia

We were invited to a “Distributor Meeting” to approve the AVEOPhantom™ in the last week of September 2008 at the AVEO facilities in Slovakia. As expected, the AVEOPhantom™ needed no ‘Approval’ from us at all!

It was looking Superb!! Nothing like a normal small light sports aircraft we seen so far in the industry.

The meetings went on very well with a lot of questions and answers, complaints being addressed and being generally impressed with the team’s achievements in addition to new discoveries and totally committed to everything AVEO again.

Biggest cause of delays at present is the certification of some key DigitalFlightDeck™ (DFD) units – whether or not the aircraft being fitted out with the DFD is certified or not units like the AVEOCOM require to be fully approved by various authorities because radio’s and transponders require multiple approvals. Because of the DFD being so “New” = “Different” - it’s all taking longer than anticipated.

The AVEO Cockpit – We were absolutely delighted! Michael in his 6’ 3” sat in the AVEOPhantom™ and did not want to get out – the AVEO cockpit is so well designed and he felt so comfortable and happy in it – whereas Janice in her 5’ 4” and basically small sat in it and felt exactly the same! Visibility is unbelievable! They both can use fixed shoulder harness and still reach everything & see everything – the interior is superb. And the exterior – it’s the sleekest, safest, strongest and most appealing shape in the market!

The AVEO development and production team in Slovakia are producing a market leading aircraft, yes we have waited a long time for it now but we don’t mind! It’s all worth waiting for!

A One Day Even in Kolej TAFE Seremban, Malaysia

Despite the short notice, AVEOASIA is proudly to say we made it for the show!! Within 20 hours, our team was heading down-south to Seremban for booth set up and a busy day at the convention organised by Kolej TAFE Seremban, a local college located about 90 minutes drive off Damansara city where we were based.

Congratulations to the team for the effort!

This event is organised mainly to introduce the opportunities in Aviation Industry to local students completing their final year in high school studies this year; ready for college life and time to decide what they want to do for their career in the future. Even existing aviation students from various local colleges take the opportunities to attend the convention.

Various topics on career prospects were shared during the whole day event– from aircraft maintenance to engineering, flying as a career, successful stories by major airlines in the industry, airlines branding, the challenges in aircraft maintenance and engineering, as well as a ‘real life experience sharing’ by a Korean jet fighter pilot!

A truly valuable event which we; AVEOASIA, appreciated and will be looking forward to support in the future. Many teenagers were attracted to our booth and they were delighted with the presentation we had on the DigitalFlightDeck™ products and how our shareownership packages of the AveoSmartPlanes™ can make their flying dreams come true!!

Many even asked if we have vacancy for them after they completed their course!! AVEOASIA is confident that the general aviation industry in Malaysia is potentially bright once people are educated on the career opportunities as well as the fun in sports flying at a very reasonable cost as part of the 21st century lifestyle!
